FBI director testifies about the threats emanating from the southern border.
The directors of National Intelligence, Central Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and State Department’s Intelligence Division appeared before the Senate Intelligence Committee to testify concerning the agencies’ 2024 Annual Threat Assessment report.
FBI Director Wray spoke on the threats from the southern border, “From an FBI perspective, we are seeing a wide array of very dangerous threats that emanate from the border, and that includes everything from the drug trafficking, and the FBI alone sees enough fentanyl in the last two years to kill 270 million people.” The director added, “That’s just on the fentanyl side. An awful lot of violent crime in the United States is at the hands of gangs who are themselves involved in the distribution of that fentanyl.”
The agency heads also discussed China and Russia. Trade between the two countries has grown significantly since Russia began its attack on Ukraine. CIA Director William Burns stated his belief that Ukraine’s continued defense has kept China from pursuing similar tactics against its own neighbors in the Indo-Pacific.
The directors also testified on a rise in terrorism across the board, highlighting activity in Pakistan, Israel, Yemen, and the U.S. southern border. “The threat has gone to a whole new level,” said Director Wray.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the heads of the U.S. intelligence agencies to receive God’s guidance as they analyze threats to national security.
- For members of the Senate and House intelligence committees to be discerning in their oversight of the U.S. intelligence community.
